Bertie lived with his co-owners in Pennsylvania, but we saw him regularly for the first year or two. He is shown here at 14 months, finishing his championship with a bang at the Deerhound supported weekend at Wine Country.
He sired two litters here at Cu Liath, the "M" litter, which includes our Memsie and CH Murchardh Springbank, among others, and the singleton Cu Liath Nerys.
Apparently he was put down for "quality of life" reasons. Unfortunately, the Ackers elected not to tell me anything about his condition or treatment. Given that another Deerhound who lived with them ostensibly had a litany of problems which never manifested themselves after he was returned to me and rehomed, I remain doubtful that the only option for poor Bertie was euthanasia. |
